Riverside Clearance
Merkinch Greenspace has undertaken clearance work along the riverside from Gilbert Street to "Friars Shott". This is an historical part of the riverside, the clearance work revealing the stone steps used to haul fish ashore in days gone by.
The work, which has been funded by the Central Ward Discretionary Budget, has been carried out by local firm A&M Garden Services; owner Lorne MacMillan reported that there had been very positive feedback from the local community about the impact the work has had on the general look of the area.
Maintenance of the cleared area will be carried out every 3 months.
Corbett Centre garden
The Corbett Centre garden is now a community garden. The British Trust of Conservation Volunteers was commissioned by Merkinch Greenspace to carry out a programme of clearance work in the garden, this was completed in November 2007. The next step is to get local community groups to take responsibility for one area of the garden. The Escape Group and local charity For the Right Reasons are working on designated areas. Merkinch Greenspace is looking at other ideas for the space, such as bird boxes and a "story-telling corner".

Benula Road play area
Merkinch Greenspace sourced funding to carry out improvements to the play area behind the flats at Benula Road. Additional play equipment was installed and new fencing erected. A donation of £1200 was received from Ladbrokes towards the purchase of the equipment and the work was done in partnership with Highland Council.
Coronation Road
This access road, which is widely used by the Merkinch community, was resurfaced in October 2007.
