  • Ali Locke
I have worked for Inverness District Council and Highland Council for over 15 years. I am currently Chairperson of Merkinch Greenspace, Chair of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve steering group and Vice-Chair of Merkinch Community Council. My background is in agriculture, having worked and served my time on a Highland estate in Sutherland. I then moved to the building trade for some years before setting up and running my own landscape gardening business.

After joining Highland Council I was a part of the successful award winning Britain in Bloom/ Scotland in Bloom team winning awards in Inverness, Beauly, Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus. I was also involved with the Beechgrove garden hit squad both in the Westfield area of Merkinch (now Merkinch Local Nature Reserve) and the Lovat Memorial Gardens in Beauly. I'm originally from the central belt, my wife is a born and bred Merkincher, my daughter Jessica is 13 and my son Douglas is 19. My hobbies, when I get time, is off-roading, competitive trailing in my 1959 series 2 Landrover.

  • Liz Murray
I have been working for the Highland Council for 2 and half years, I started as the community warden for the Merkinch area and became involved with Merkinch Greenspace working on various environmental projects, I really enjoyed this side of my work and am delighted to now be a director of the company.

I was brought up in the Merkinch area and my mum still lives in the area. Most of my previous jobs were in the care sector, I am married with two children: Carrie is 21 years old and is in her finial year at Aberdeen University and Connor is 12 years old and has just started Inverness High school. I am on a secondment at the moment as housing management officer for the Merkinch, most of my spare time is taken up with studying for my Diploma in Housing.
